Reach Opportunity Centre raises £1043.37 for Macmillan Cancer Support

The students and staff at the Reach Opportunity Centre would like to say a very

BIG THANK YOU

for your support at this years Macmillan coffee morning on Friday 27th September 2019.

Our final total was an outstanding £1043.37 and we had fantastic support from the local community.

The students, staff and volunteers worked really hard to make sure everyone had a great time and there was plenty of tea, coffee, cake, games and chatting.

We wouldn’t have been able to achieve this without your generous support, your wonderful donations of prizes and giving up your valuable time on the day.

All proceeds will go towards funding Macmillan’s vital work, providing cancer information and support and will help millions of people touched by cancer to not face this awful disease alone.

£231 funds a Macmillan nurse for one day and we are proud of our contribution towards this this year.

Congratulations to Charlotte and Tom

by Becky, Catrin, Jenny, Rhianna and Tyler

On the 29th May 2019, our wonderful Manager of the Reach Centre, Charlotte travelled to Croatia to marry her prince charming Tom.

Whilst they were away the students and staff got very busy designing a traditional wedding cake. The ingredients were currants, sultanas, raisins, cherries, mixed peel, almonds, lemon rind, plain flour, orange rind, mixed spice, cinnamon, butter, soft brown sugar, eggs and brandy.

We covered the cake with marzipan and then royal icing; we then decorated the cake with fondant icing flowers.

We also made a mug and a cushion with wedding photos on them.

On the 8th of May 2019 Anne Thatcher presented the Reach Opportunity centre with a generous cheque for £2,500.

Anne Thatcher and Phil Smith (Thatchers Foundation Trustee) kindly visited the Reach Centre and joined the students in the garden for a photo shoot whilst presenting the cheque.

The students had a great time, and everyone was super excited to receive the donation.
